Remember, if you aren’t able to troubleshoot issues that you are experiencing, it is best to call our team of professionals for well pump service so that we can find the culprit of the issues you are experiencing and provide you with a solution. That said, the water issues you are having in your home could be caused by a bad well pump that needs replacing, but there could also be issues with other components of your well water system that could be the culprit, including:
Power Loss - Since well pumps run using electricity, if you lose power, you will only have as much water as your pressure tank is holding. Keep in mind, even if you’re not experiencing complete power loss, you may have just blown the fuse for your well pump. Simply check your electrical box to see if the corresponding breaker has been tripped. If the issue doesn’t seem to be power loss, you may want to consider calling a professional.
Low Water Table - In Texas, it is common to experience a drought or dry spell. When this happens, there may be a lack of water in your well which can result in issues such as water sputtering or spitting from the tap, dirty or murky water, or water that has a noticeably different taste. Sometimes these issues are temporary and other times the problem could stem from your well pump needing to be deeper underground to draw from the water table.
Inadequate Pump Size - Your well pump should be sized for your home’s water use, meaning the size of your pump should be based off of the size of your plumbing system. If your well pump is too small compared to your plumbing system, issues will arise.
Overworked Well Pump – In addition to the pump, the pressure tank should be sized accordingly compared to your homes water usage. This helps take strain off of the pump. A well pump that is only running a few times a day will have a significantly longer lifespace than a pump that is continuously cycling on and off throughout the day.
